An everyday athlete is anyone who moves with purpose. Whether that’s training at the gym, running, playing sport, or simply wanting to confidently play with your kids without pain.

At Everyday Athlete Physiotherapy, we help active people across Kotara and greater Newcastle overcome pain and injury with thoughtful, goal-based Physiotherapy.

The Everyday Athlete Rehab Process:

At Everyday Athlete Physiotherapy, our rehab is built around you and your goals. We provide evidence-informed physiotherapy for active people who want to keep active, understand their pain, recover properly, and return to moving confidently for the long term. 

Your initial appointment is a comprehensive, one-on-one session where we take the time to understand your injury, exercise history, lifestyle and goals. From there, we build a clear rehab plan and guide you through each stage of your recovery, from settling pain, to rebuilding strength and resilience, to confidently returning to the activities that matter to you.

  • We understand how impactful back pain can be on your life, particularly when it sticks around or seems to consistently re-occur. We take a holistic approach, guided by evidence to ensure we uncover the reasons your back pain hasn't gone away. We use thorough education and practical strategies to alleviate the fear of back pain and help you return to being the everyday athlete you are.

  • Running injuries are a particular interest of ours at Everyday Athlete Physiotherapy. We love helping runners achieve their goals, whether you are a seasoned runner, training for your first running event, or are just trying to stay healthy. We will do all we can to ensure you can keep running while you recover from your injury, and that you leave with a greater understanding of the strategies you can use to prevent future running injuries, because runners love to run.

  • Knee injuries and pain can occur for a range of different reason, some are acute and will occur after an incident and some some may come on gradually, with no obvious cause. We have extensive experience treating knee pain and injuries and will ensure that as you become pain free,  you are well informed about why the injury may have occurred in the first place. This way, once you return to doing what you love, you keep doing it, with confidence.

    Examples of knee pain and injury include ACL tears, acute and chronic meniscus tears, patellofemoral pain, ITB pain, patella dislocation

  • Having surgery can be a big decision- once you have made that decision, you want to ensure you have high-quality rehabilitation to get the absolute most out of the procedure in the long-term, and return to doing the things you love as soon as possible. We will develop individualised rehabilitation programs and work with your surgeon to ensure all you need to do is focus on getting better.

  • Sporting injuries can result in frustration, anxiety, time away from doing what you love and even early retirement. We are experts in treating a wide range of injuries and will guide you through the entire process, using specific strength and performance measurements to time your return to sport. Once you achieve your goals, we will leave you with a specific strengthening program to ensure you stay on the field for the long term.

  • We love seeing everyday athletes who want to improve their ability to do what’s important to them, even in the absence of an injury. We are experts at designing strengthening programs to help you reach your potential in your chosen sport/activity, or to help you keep doing what you love, with confidence that your body will cope.

  • We offer dry needling as part of your rehabilitation where appropriate. This treatment technique can help alleviate pain and enhance performance, it works alongside the rest of your rehab to ensure you return to doing what you love, sooner.
